Day 2

Typing today’s blog I am currently over the South China Sea at 11542m above sea and cruising along at 901 kilometres per hour. Based on Adelaide time it is 1:10 am. Today we had a touristy morning around Canberra. First port of call was Mount Ainslie with a panoramic look over Canberra and again we could marvel at the planning that went in it’s design.
The National Museum was good with it display and informative info but it was the War Memorial was a standout Museum for me. We walked through the display and memorials for all of the theatres of war Australians have been involved in. What the serviceman and women went through was truly horrible. That was in action, but were then treated even worse when were prisoners of war. Since my last visit they have added a coup-le of sound and light shows. These had diorama movies with planes and other machines as active props. It was good to revisit the War Memorial.
Luckily we were in Canberra at the right time to visit the Art Gallery as the Impressionist and Post Impressionists exhibition was on. We even luckier to have Jim’s mate Rossco with us who is a guide at the Gallery. He gave us an opportunity to enhance our experience of these Masters’ work. I really like a couple of Gaugan’s, but with the price tag of $100 million I was happy to just look.

  1. Hey Balls - best of luck with it all - did you say g'day to Dave Brownhill for me?
